A River Runs...

This custom order was for a woman as a Christmas gift to her son who is a river guide out west. She wanted something unique to him as well as durable and refillable. This is one of his favorite lined journal inserts, which will now be protected on all his adventures. The canyon, river and full moon scene are reminiscent of where he spends much of his time.

Custom Large Leather Journal with Handmade Paper

This is a large leather handbound journal that has handmade paper and a leather tie closure.  I created it as a custom order recently for a new customer.  Here is what she wrote once she received it:

I just got it, and it is absolutely beautiful!!! The colors are right on - perfect! Thank you so very much. You have an amazing talent, and as a person who is very picky about her journals, I'm so very glad I found you :)

Thanks again!

In Celebration of St. Patrick's Day...

May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine warm on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
-Irish Proverb

This was a custom order that came in just in time for St. Patrick's Day.  A women ordered it for a friend who does Civil War reenactments and has Irish heritage.  We needed to keep it rustic and minimalistic (true to the times he is representing) and a nod to his Irish heritage.  This is what we came up with, and she let me know that he loved it.

Watercolor Paper

I'm delighted to be able to finally offer sketchbooks with watercolor paper.  The paper is white, acid-free, and handmade with deckled, hand-torn edges.  Its 200 lb or 300 gsm.  They are available in medium (5.75 x 7.75 inches) for $98 and large (7.75 x 12 inches) for $140.   Both have 80 pages, including both sides.  This paper is available for custom orders as well.

Large Leather Padfolios - Perfect for Work, Meetings, Class, Etc.

Here are a couple of examples of large padfolios that I've been doing. I mostly do these as custom orders (basically so you can choose the type of leather you'd like), but I am starting to take some to festivals with me. They have an 8 1/2 x 11 inch pad of paper that you can refill, a pen and pen holder, and a pocket that you can carry 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheets of paper without folding them.  It also have a business card holder.  You can have them close with a leather tie, snap, magnetic closure, or latch.

Thinking of you...

As I was working on finishing up a stack of journals this morning, I was thinking of all the wonderful people that I know they will be going to. And I am so grateful...to be able to put good into these books for you, for all the journeys and inspirations that I hope they will help you with, for all the paths I get to cross while doing this...and so much more. Sending you all love as we go into this holiday season!

Personalized Scrapbook for Photos, notes, drawings...

I created this scrapbook for a long-time friend who is living in Kansas for a bit. She wants to make her son a scrapbook with photos, notes from school, drawings, etc. They will all fit nicely in here. His name is on the front within the state of Kansas...and just for fun, the dot of the "i" is about where they live. I'm excited to see it once she has it all put together!

Leather Bound "Kentucky 120" Art Book

Ed Lawrence put together a collection of 120 photographs, each one taken from one of the 120 counties in KY.  He began a kickstarter campaign to gather the funds to publish it and wanted to offer hand-bound editions for those who pledged over a certain amount.  We ended up creating five limited editions of his photographs that were printed on archival, handmade paper and then hand-bound to reclaimed leather.  The closures were created by another artist and have the recipient's names on them.   While I was only involved with the hand-bound book aspect of this project, it was still quite an undertaking.  I have to say that these are the thickest books I have bound so far.  I'm incredibly pleased with how they turned out.   While these handbound books were a limited edition, the published copies of Kentucky 120 should be available in March.  They will be available at Morris Book Shop in Lexington, KY among other places.  You can contact Ed Lawrence for more details at edlawrencephotography@gmail.com.

Tooth Fairy Notebook

This notebook is a perfect companion for all tooth fairies! You can record and save each little tooth as they come out, making notes and storing memories. It is a 4.5 x 3 inches hand-bound book with 72 pages (front and back) that has a small pocket on the front inside cover. The cover was made from remnant mint leather, and it closes with a hand-made glass bead. The inside pages are also recycled and acid-free. You can even have your wee one draw pictures of what happened when they lost their tooth. The ideas are endless!  To order one, go here.

Girl on Fire

Sending this refillable journal off to a sweet friend today!  She has just gone through a major move and has an exciting new job.  She wanted a journal that she could carry around at work while still being a symbol of empowerment.  She decided to go with red because it felt bold and that is what she is trying to be more of.  I found a gold closure of a lotus and added the goddess figure inside to remind her to be true to herself.  As I was creating it, I kept thinking of the Alicia Key's song "Girl on Fire".  This is for all your new-found fire, Steph!

Repurposed Coffee Bag Stockings

And the stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

Confession:  I'm not entirely sure why but stockings have always been my favorite Christmas tradition.  I don't know if its because you have to get more creative with getting small gifts that fit in them or if it feels like a treasure hunt pulling small gifts from them, but I love them.  I think they are really fun-both the giving and receiving of stockings.  So, I enjoyed coming up with a unique, handmade stocking option.  These are created from repurposed coffee bags and have little bells on top.  I can even personalize them with hand-stitch names.  For those of you interested in decorating either with mostly handmade or eco-friendly items, this stocking is both!

The Journey Begins with a Step

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
-Lao Tzu

This handmade, leather journal was carefully planned and co-created for a 7th wedding anniversary.  I was contacted by the wife who wanted a custom journal made for her husband.  The traditional gifts for the 7th wedding anniversary are wool or copper.  I was asked to incorporate both.  Her husband likes earthy colors (he was initially drawn to my work because of the coffee bag books), and she wanted the quote on the first page.  The word "journey" is hand-stitch on environmentally-friendly, 100% wool in a copper colored thread.  The center closure is copper.  I also really like that it is a circle since that echoes both wedding rings and the idea of a journey.  Their anniversary was earlier this week, and I received the kindest email from her husband once he received it.

"I just received my 7th anniversary gift, a Reimagined by Luna original!
I'm delighted with the journal, and the story behind it (as indeed I have been behind all the products I have from Reimagined by Luna) and can't stop looking at it! Thank you very much!!"

The other really cool thing about this journal is that you can close it a variety of ways.
Here are three examples:

I'm really please with how this one turned out and enjoyed making it in honor of this couple's anniversary.  Happy 7th Anniversary to them!
