“How come her version of the Christmas Spirit was so out of sync with everyone else’s? She wondered…
The tinny music, the crass commercialism with all its tacky bric a brac and the suffocating phoniness was all becoming too much for her.
She needed some air…
Though she always prided herself on not being part of that culture,
she could see that she still had a foot stuck in that world...
Maybe that foot would be better off dancing, she mused….”

What a great way to end the show season! I am really grateful that I was able to end it so close to home with many of you that have been on this journey with me for awhile. Big thank you to Madison of @monasartsupply and @loudounshop for making yesterday’s holiday show possible! She decorated, promoted, orchestrated, and made sure everyone was highlighted and cared for. And many thanks to the @lexingtonartleague for the opportunity! They play such an important role here in bringing people together and offering a variety of ways to highlight the arts. It was just really great connecting and reconnecting with everyone who came out and so many solid makers. I appreciate being a part of you all.

Big shout out to @devicepitstoplex for all their good work the past few days! They helped me replace my phone, ordered a new screen to put on the old phone so we could transfer that data, and walked me through some other things that came up. I’ve been buying my devices from them for years, and they continue to be fair, honest, and reliable. Plus, they sell refurbished devices so I’m getting what I need and keeping things out of the landfill. Win win! I cannot recommend them enough!
Here are a few of the photos they were able to recover from the weekend. I’m now busy filling a few more custom orders and getting ready for the @lexingtonartleague holiday market on Saturday. It will be 2-8pm at the Loundoun House.
“There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write.” - William Makepeace Thackeray
Meet this week’s maker: Steve Harris of @steves_wood_crafters lives in Louisville, KY and has been a woodworker for over 40 years. His work demonstrates a detailed eye and close attention. He is inspired by the distinct patterns of wood grain. Knowing that all woods have a story to tell, he shares the beauty of that through each piece he creates.
Steve’s handmade wooden pens are made with a variety of woods from bourbon barrels to Koa wood from Hawaii. Each of them is refillable. He carefully works with the wood and selects components that will stand the test of time. I am showcasing his slimline pens and cigar or gentleman pen’s. If you are looking for a gift for a man, he let me know that they particularly like the gentleman’s pen because of their thickness.
I’ve always been picky about the pens that I use when I write, especially if I’m journaling or spending a longer time writing, imagining, notetaking, etc. It makes the experience more enjoyable when you want to hold the pen and have nice paper to move it on. It simply elevates the experience. Steve’s pens are unique, beautiful, and write really well. They are a perfect companion for a leather journal. He makes other work as well and has a shop for the holiday season in Norton Commons in Louisville, KY.

Steve’s Wood Crafters is part of the Intention Maker Gift Box “For the Mindful Writer” collection. They include a handmade wooden pen, handbound leather journal, handcrafted herbal tea and soy candle, and a leather bookmark. All the gift boxes are at reimaginedonline.com.

That was a whirlwind of a weekend! First things first…my phone fell Sunday morning and the screen went permanently black. I could hear text messages coming through, but couldn’t see them. If you have texted in the past couple of days, please resend them. I now have a new phone and maybe able to recover those text messages, but will not know for sure for a couple of days.
Somehow, my phone did not retain the few photos I took from the weekend except for this one, but I definitely want to thank everyone who came by this past weekend at @colswinterfair . It was so good seeing you all again, and I really appreciate how many of you make a point to stop by year after year. Thank you for touching in, catching up, and showing support on multiple levels. Also a big thank you to Roxanne, Kim, and all of Ohio Designer Craftsman for orchestrating this incredible group of artists and holiday show.
My last show of the year is this Saturday, December 14th, with the @lexingtonartleague at the Loundoun House. I’ll be joining over 20 artists from 2pm-8pm. Mark your calendar if you are nearby!

Meet this week’s maker: Jennifer Davis of Forget Me Not Farm is a yoga instructor, homeschool co-op organizer and teacher, a homeschool mom and more. She and her husband, Sean, started Forget Me Not Farm in Paris, KY, which is an umbrella for their many ventures in learning, creating, and sharing. Each of the gift boxes contain at least one item from her. I’ve known Jennifer for several years now, and she is constantly learning and teaching. She brings so much enthusiasm and care to each endeavor that she takes on. You will feel that in all the details of these products.
She is making our candles and teas. She hand-pours the candles with organic soy wax, uses wooden wicks and only essential oils for scenting. The teas are all made in small batches with organic and ethically sourced ingredients with health and wellness in mind. There are four tea combinations to choose from: Restful, Immune Support, Joyful, or Love Yourself Tea Blend. Each gift box that has tea will also come with a few tea bags to put the tea in.
When I’m setting the scene to journal, I’ve found that something as simple as a hot beverage and candle lift my mood and ground me. It turns the ordinary into something sacred and special. It is another signal to myself that I’m setting aside this time to reflect. It helps me be more intentional in quieting down and turning inward. Jennifer’s tea blends and candles are perfect for doing just that.

The studio is full as I’ve been working steadily to get ready for these next few weeks of holiday shows. Here is a peek at the piles, the studio, and pieces in process.
If there is something specific you are hoping for at one of these shows, please let me know in advance.
I appreciate each of you that has been part of this journey. This past year has had some extra ups and downs. While this kind of work can be unpredictable, it’s been more so this year. Its part of the ebb and flow of having a small business, but is also why I added more art shows this past summer and fall. What that led to was meeting so many great new people and making solid connections in new areas. You all showed up despite heat, storms, and more. I am really grateful. Thank you!!
✨Just a reminder that the Feral Folk Holiday Market by @kyferalfolk is this Sunday! I’m really excited to be joining other eco-conscious vendors. This is a curated craft market featuring land-based and nature-inspired handmade goods. We’ll be at @westsixth on Sunday 12-5pm. Please join us!✨
Meet this week’s maker: Debra Robinson is a Thai Massage Therapist, health consultant, writer, and more. She has extensive experience in assisting people in their healing on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. I am one of those people. I can confidently say I would not be where I am today without her. I met her after tragedies and difficulties in my family caused so much stress that at age 24, I was stuck in a bent position from severe back pain. She had me walking normally after one session. One day, we were talking and she said, “You are depressed.” I laughed and said that this is the best I had ever felt. She told me to quit smiling and I did and burst into tears. She gently said, “You don’t know what its like to feel good yet. Use this magnesium gel twice day all over like lotion with no questions asked. We’ll talk about it in a few months after you build your levels up.” She had helped me enough that I knew to listen. After a few months, I was sleeping much better, had much less anxiety and the heaviness that I had been accustomed to feeling was lifting. Also, my 10-year battle with trying not to smoke cigarettes was gone. That was 15 years ago. I have used it almost every day since. I still don’t smoke and when I have anxiety, it’s for a reason instead of a lingering, underlying presence that I try to live around.
We lose magnesium through stress: physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, etc. Because our soil has been stripped, we don’t get enough in our diet anymore. I wanted to include Debra’s magnesium gel because it is one of the tools that has helped me. With this time of year and the holidays, I know people struggle even more with anxiety, depression, etc. We also become more aware of arthritis and other pains that we tend to overlook in warmer months. Magnesium gel helps with all of this and more! Check out her website for more information: magnesiumshoppe.com

If you didn’t get a chance to come by @thegreenerylex last Saturday, here are some of the fun new items that we introduced. There are coasters, refillable leather notebooks, and ornaments. They are all branded with The Greenery’s leaf logo and are currently available in their gift shop area. This is definitely a coffee shop that you will want to check out. They have delicious coffee and a beautiful ambiance. Plus, they have plenty of outlets available so it’s a good place to work and keep everything charged up.
Big thank you to Erin for having me join them last Saturday! It was such a joy-filled day. I appreciated getting to meet new people as well as have a few regulars surprise me by showing up. Thank you all!!
