Mini Photo Books

If you are looking for a quick, but thoughtful way to show someone you care, check out these mini photo books. The idea is from a customer who was giving these out as Christmas gifts. She told me that she goes to Rite-Aid, prints the photo index card, and puts the tiny photos in the book necklaces. These photos (shown in the photo with the quarter) are really small. I'm creating a book necklace one size larger to accommodate the photos that are 1.25 x 2 inches (they cost .39 for 9 at Rite-Aid). You can find the small book necklaces here . The larger ones will be available online next week. If you'd like one before then, let me know.

The smallest photos are from the photo index card that you have the option of getting at the end of choosing your prints.  I used photo squares to adhere the photos to the page.  You can use any scrapbook adhesive as long as its acid-free.

NEW Refillable Hardback Sketchbooks

I now have refillable hardback sketchbooks that have blank pages and are ideal for sketching and drawing.  The pages are lightly textured and acid-free and are great for pencil, pen, pastel, charcoal, and other dry media.  They each have 110 pages and are 70 lb (or 110 GSM).  These refillable sketchbooks come in four sizes (two are horizontal):  8.5 x 11, 11 x 8, 9 x 6, and 4 x 6 inches.  The refills will be available on my website.

Baby Books, Guestbooks, Address Books, Music Composition Notebook, and more

I've been having too much fun playing with new designs.  I've added some new sizes, new closures, and speciality books which come with certain insides.

Below are the new sizes in handmade paper.  They are for a limited time only.  You can use them for writing, sketching, photos, watercolors, and more.  This also shows two of the new closures that I've started using more of: the bronze latch and the knotted leather.  The knot looks complicated, but it is literally a knot and is a whole different look.

This is a sample page from the Baby Book.  Makes a great gift for a baby shower and has all the typical places for notes that you will want to keep as your baby is growing.

The guestbook is nice for a wedding gift or is even good for a wedding shower where you can easily keep track of guests.

The address book is small (about 4 x 6) and is great for those of us who are old school and still write down addresses.

The dated diary has one page per day and would make it easy to do a little daily journaling or would be a good place to keep notes that you need to be dated and organized (for example, a food journal/diary).

The music composition notebook is a unique place to write your music.  It is simply pages full of the staff for your composing pleasure.

New photo albums come in three sizes.  These also have the inside pages shown below.  They have a glassine (a glossy, transparent paper) separating the pages so your photos are protected.

Large Leather Padfolios - Perfect for Work, Meetings, Class, Etc.

Here are a couple of examples of large padfolios that I've been doing. I mostly do these as custom orders (basically so you can choose the type of leather you'd like), but I am starting to take some to festivals with me. They have an 8 1/2 x 11 inch pad of paper that you can refill, a pen and pen holder, and a pocket that you can carry 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheets of paper without folding them.  It also have a business card holder.  You can have them close with a leather tie, snap, magnetic closure, or latch.

Vintage Book Wedding Guestbook

"Lovers don't finally meet somewhere, they're in each other all along." -Rumi

Every wedding is as unique as the individuals that are being celebrated.  These wedding guestbooks are just as unique.  These in particular are currently for sale here and are also examples of the kinds of wedding guestbooks I can create.  I also make these types of books for engagement parties, baby showers, family renuions, etc.  The name plates on the front can be customized and can be on the front of the book or on the first inside page.  Please let me know if you are interested in a custom-made guestbook at reimaginedbyluna@gmail.com.

5 x 7 Padfolios

Want something nice and simple to carry your tablet of paper and pen in? Introducing this new design for a 5 x 7 inch pad plus a pen! It is made from reclaimed leather and closes with a leather tie or heavy duty snap. The sleeve on the left will fit a folded 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper, and there is a place for business cards. On the right, there is a pen holder and a holder for the pad of paper. It will come with both a pad of paper and pen. The particularly nice thing about this design is that because the leather is soft, you can fold both the flap and left side back so that you can easily hold it in one hand. It is great for note-taking as well as having notes available during a presentation or meeting.  I offer the 8.5 x 11 size as a custom order.  Just contact me if you are interested!

Elongated Photo Albums with Handmade Paper

Photo albums are priceless family heirlooms, and, while many photos are kept digitally now, it is nice to keep that hand-picked selection collected in a way that can be easily enjoyed. You can add your photographs to these with photo corners or acid-free adhesives. The leather is carefully bound so that the pages expand with the addition of your photos. This ensures that the photo album's shape stays in tact and does not get bulky. It closes securely with a leather strap and handcrafted wooden piece or bead. These photo albums are truly one-of-a-kind and would make a beautiful family heirloom.

Refillable Professional Gig Planner / Journal for Speakers, Performers, Musician

This refillable leather gig planner/journal was specifically designed for famous Flat-foot dancer Paul Anderegg.  He has used many planners and journals over the years during his workshops and performances, but none of them were able to meet all his needs.  This design was created to solve that problem.  It fits a 5 x 7 notebook or a 5 x 8 planner and can be refilled year after year.  It also has two business card holders, two pen holders, a wrist and finger holder feature, a place for storing CD/DVDs and a pocket for folded 8.5 x 11 loose papers.  It closes securely with a snap. The flap on the front can be used as a nameplate that you can either add your name or initials to or have me hand-stitch them.  It will be a perfect fit for speakers, teachers, performers, and musicians alike.    It is now available exclusively in Paul Anderegg's online store.

Memory Book Ornaments 2012

When I was little, it was a Christmas tradition to pick out a new Christmas ornament every year.  I would have been so excited to find a tiny book ornament that I could actually have written in!  These little books just make me smile.  They have the most whimsical, swirly hook, making them extra fun.  These will make great gifts for any book lovers.  You can write a little message in them or suggest using them each year to record a Christmas memory.  Some customers are letting their kids draw or put their finger prints in them.  The possibilities are endless!

Handcrafted Wooden Pens

Bourbon Barrel Pens? Yep! I have recently collaborated with Steve Flinchum of Shadoway Studio to be able to offer hand-crafted wooden pens with my journals. Steve is from Elkhorn, KY, a member of KY Crafted, and makes his pens from KY woods and Bourbon barrels. The pen pictured was created from a white oak bourbon barrel. I currently have a limited supply so let me know if you want one. I also have pens out of black walnut and wild cherry.

Safari Tour

All these jungle animals are doing a variety of actions while only showing a part of themselves. Can you guess what they are and what they are doing? These hand-crafted books were created in collaboration with a friend, Jason Thompson. He had the original idea and sketched the design, and I translated it to leather and fabrics to create this lively bunch. It was a true joint effort! These are great for a child's first journal or sketchbook as well as fabulous for any fun-loving adult. We can do these in other colors or create them as a photo album if you are interested in a custom order. Please let me know if you have any questions!

*NEW* Refillable Coffee Bag Books

Refillable Coffee Bag Books are now an option!  This new design has similar features as the original coffee bag books: repurposed burlap coffee bags, hand-crafted wooden buttons, and handbound recycled, brown paper.  However, when you fill this one up, you can purchase another handbound journal to refill it with from me.  The cover and initial refill are $48.  Each additional refill is $25.  They will be premiering this weekend at the Lakeshore Arts Festival in Evanston, IL (just north of Chicago).  In the meantime, if you would like one, just let me know!

**NEW**Fitness/Yoga/Dance/Goal Journal

Whether you are taking dance lessons, practicing yoga, participating in a fitness routine, or just wanting to get more intentional about your life, this journal is for you. It is a gently guided outline to give you space to set weekly goals, intentions, dreams as well as space for each day of the week to reflect on your frustrations, accomplishments, and happenings. It has 18 weeks inside of it and each one begins with a new quote.  Each of these journals will be accompanied by a handout to explain the layout of the pages as well as give some ideas for the reflections parts.  As far as the cover design, I have several of these already created with my sassy, dancer girl and goddess figure.  I can add this insert to a custom journal of your choosing.  If you are interested, contact me here.   There are several currently available for purchase here.  You can see some more pictures of the fabulous ladies here

Here is a peek at the inside pages:

Extra Large Sketchbook

Have you all seen the new Hardcore Sketchbook? As I was making this, it seemed to just name itself.  I get many requests for larger and thicker books.  I found myself thinking while I was creating it that it was a hardcore sketchbook.  It's big and thick and perfect for serious artists and writers...PLUS, it has a built in pencil/pen holder.  The paper is 100% recycled, thick, textured, and archival.  They are now available online here!

Traveling this Summer? {Travel Journals}

"Pilgrims are poets who create by taking a journey."
–Richard Niebuhr

I find that when I travel, I tend to take a new journal specifically for reflections and sketches pertinent to that adventure.  Journeys are such a change of pace that they can reveal parts of us to ourselves that we are too busy to pay attention to when we are in our regular routine.  It's nice to have something to captures these moments.  Also, because I use archival paper, you can add photos or mementos that you may collect along the way.  I recently had a customer tell me about a “smash book”.  It’s similar in concept to a scrapbook.  The difference is rather than waiting until you get back home to neatly organize and layout your ticket stubs, maps, photos, etc., you put things in your book as you collect them.  Her idea makes so much sense for those of us who have the best of intentions to scrapbook, but really just need to do things in the moment.  It is sometimes all too easy for all the memorabilia to end up in a shoe box that is lucky to even have a label with the date on it.

My travel journals are now available in small, medium, and large.  They have 192 archival pages (includes both sides) and come with a pen and pen holder closure.  You can decide which size is best for you, depending on what size bag you tend to carry, whether you need more room for sketches or not, etc.

Happy travels to all of you on journeys of all kinds this year!

In honor of Derby...

This is a horse photo album that I created for my younger cousin.  She is using it as a scrapbook to put pictures in of her and her horses.   The pages are acid-free, which means that her photos won't yellow over time.  Each page was individually crafted so that she can add pictures without the book getting bulky.  It will naturally expand for her and become a keepsake.
